We are a family business
Exvira is a family business with a long history of practical experience in explosion protection.
Pauli has almost 40 years of experience in explosion protection. Pauli started his career as an electrician, then as an electrical designer in an engineering firm. During the recession of the 1990s, electrical designer jobs decreased and more work had to be found somewhere. Together with his colleague, Pauli began to familiarize himself with explosion protection and began offering explosion protection services to the engineering firm’s customers. Since then, Pauli has specialized in explosion protection. When the first ATEX directive was published in 2003, Pauli began to focus full-time on explosion protection only.
In 2010, Pauli founded Exvira Oy. Helping customers with explosion protection continued, and soon, based on customer inquiries, Pauli also started offering ATEX training to his customers.
In 2020, Pauli’s daughter Johanna joined Exvira to grow as an explosion protection expert. At the same time, Exvira’s expertise expanded to include English-language ATEX training. In 2024, Pauli’s other daughter Aino joined, who has brought a strong perspective to the development and comprehensibility of training.
The next generation is growing rapidly as explosion protection experts in Pauli’s footsteps, so that Exvira can serve its customers with its extensive experience also in the future.
Who are we?
Pauli
Pauli is a well-known explosion protection expert in Finland, with almost 40 years of experience in the field. He has also trained authorities and participated in the preparation of a field manual (SFS Handbook 59, 2022).
Pauli is a walking ATEX knowledge bank, with deep knowledge of the legislation and its application in practice. Pauli remembers numerous accident examples and is able to utilize the lessons learned from them to make customers’ workplaces safer.
Pauli is also a great storyteller and humorist, which makes his training interesting and practical, and for some even entertaining.
Johanna
Johanna has worked at Exvira since 2020 as a safety expert. During this time, she has gained strong expertise in explosion protection and especially in preparing explosion protection documents.
Johanna’s work emphasizes diligence and customer orientation. She implements explosion protection documents for a wide range of projects, from large bakeries and industrial sites to smaller paint shops.
Johanna also works as the person responsible for English-language ATEX training. Johanna has previously lived in England for 10 years, which is reflected in her pleasant British accent in English-language ATEX training and her ability to train international customers clearly and understandably.
Aino
Aino joined Exvira in 2024. Aino trains clients in ATEX basic training and accompanies work trips to learn more about explosion protection with Pauli and Johanna.
Aino has taken Exvira’s ATEX training to a new level. Her background is in sales and she has strong skills in coaching and leading people. Aino’s passion is to help people to truly learn, so that the ATEX card is not just a symbol of box-ticking. ATEX can be perceived as a difficult subject, but Aino has revamped Exvira’s training so that participants can really understand it and can also apply what they have learned in practice, so they know what ATEX means in their work and why it matters.
As a trainer, Aino’s strengths are communication and increasing understanding. She explains things clearly and in a practical way so that anyone can learn the basics of ATEX.
