-
The hazardous area zoning clarifies how hazardous the ATEX areas are, where they are located, and how far the potentially explosive atmospheres extend in the workplace. The purpose of area classification is to define the hazardous areas into zones, make the risks known, and make the workplace safe.

Exvira Oy has competency to create area classifications. Good knowledge of the premises and ability to assess potential explosive atmospheres ensures adept and safe zoning that is in conformity with the requirements.
-
The creator of hazardous area classification document (the ATEX specialist in Exvira Oy) scopes the hazards, defines the zoning classifications, and determines the equipment requirements.
The person who is responsible for procurement must ensure that the request for quote includes adequate information and documentation about the ATEX requirements of the equipment and equipment specific delivery documentation. Zoning classifications and hazardous substances must be included in the request for quote to ensure equipment is safe for use in the premises.
Equipment supplier is responsible for ensuring that the equipment has been tested and the safety inspections have been carried out according to the requirements. Supplier ensures that the equipment is suitable for use in the required ATEX classification, and the required documentation is delivered. When equipment receives the CE marking, the manufacturer determines the ATEX classification of the equipment.
Public authority will verify that explosion protection documentation exists and that the workplace corresponds to the information set out in the documentation.
Employer is responsible for safe operation at the workplace.
Ultimately every employee will be responsible for their own safe operation at the workplace as well as for notifying the employer when they notice causes for concern or shortcomings, and share suggestions for improvement of safety.
